Synopsis

In Montreal, at the beginning of the 20th century, a poor and uneducated mother succeeds in lifting her family out of poverty by becoming a resoundingly successful folk singer.

With the crisis of the 20s and 30s in the background as well as the rise in the fight for women’s rights, the story traces the life of Mary Travers Bolduc, her dazzling career, her difficult marriage and her touching relationship with her eldest daughter, Denise, who played piano on her mother’s records and dreamed of becoming an actress in Hollywood.
